Im thinking of removing my Shifter knob so i found this very helpfull article, Hope it answers some questions for you too.
1.Put the vehicle in park:
2. Slide the chrome sleeve downwards
3. Pull outward on the chrome button (It will shock you when it comes out and youll think you broke it but its ok)
4. Pull the shift knob up and off.
To put it back on its just doing the steps backwards.
